I remember that in our first week there was an art film shown to us called Der Lauf Der Dinge, The Way Things Go made by Fischli/Weiss, a Swiss artist duo. That reminded me of the Honda advert- the Cog immediately. The much more serious problem is like numerous adverts or some design works getting ideas from websites such as Youtube. It is really easy to find resource and get inspiration from internet especially when the time is restricted. Maybe we should ask ourself "what are we gonna do when the pressure is coming and we have such a sharp tool?" There are a few articles discussing about this from CR blog.
